Unemployment Insurance Modernization — Virginia

Role: Solution Architect / SME | Company: HCLA | Period: Aug 2010 – Oct 2012

Served as Solution Architect and Subject Matter Expert for Virginia’s UI modernization initiative, supporting requirements validation, platform alignment, and multi‑team integration efforts as the state transitioned to HCL’s iGovern solution.

Overview

As Solution Architect and SME, I supported the implementation of HCL’s iGovern platform to replace Virginia’s legacy Unemployment Insurance Tax and Benefits system. My work focused on validating requirements, aligning functional and technical teams, and ensuring that the platform met the state’s operational, compliance, and modernization goals.

This engagement required deep UI domain knowledge, cross‑team coordination, and structured analysis to ensure that the new system could support employer services, tax processing, benefits adjudication, and federal reporting requirements.
